Most guests who ask us about extending a Golden Triangle trip have the same unspoken worry: that it’ll turn a well-planned two-week holiday into a logistical headache bolted onto the end. It doesn’t have to. Here’s how we actually route it.
The minimum viable extension: 3 days
If your Jaipur leg wraps and you have three spare days, fly from Delhi or Jaipur to Nagpur (about 1.5 hours), transfer to Pench (2 hours by road), and get two full safari days in before flying home. It’s tight, but it’s genuinely workable, and Pench’s proximity to Nagpur is exactly why we recommend it for short extensions.
The comfortable version: 5 days
Five days lets you do what we route most often: Jaipur wrap, fly to Nagpur, transfer to Pench for a first safari that evening, a full day in Pench, a scenic 3-hour transfer to Kanha, an afternoon and dawn safari there, then a final transfer back to Nagpur for your flight home. Two parks, meaningfully better sighting odds than a single-reserve trip, and no day feels rushed.
What to actually change in your existing itinerary
The only real adjustment is your exit point. Most Golden Triangle trips end in Jaipur or loop back to Delhi — either works, since both connect to Nagpur in around 1.5 hours. Book your international departure out of Nagpur instead of Delhi if your routing allows it, or accept one more short domestic hop back to Delhi at the very end. We handle this routing for every guest who extends with us, so it’s rarely the hard part.
What’s genuinely non-negotiable
Safari permits are capped daily and issued per zone — they need to be booked well ahead, ideally as soon as your extension dates are fixed. This is the one part of the plan that can’t be improvised on arrival, which is exactly why we ask for your dates as early as possible once you’ve decided to extend.
If tiger sightings matter to you at all, three extra days is the least we’d suggest. Five gets you a trip that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.
