From the US East Coast, expect around 15–17 hours total via one stop in Europe or the Gulf into Delhi or Mumbai; from the West Coast, closer to 18–20 hours, often via the Gulf or East Asia. Canada follows a similar pattern via Europe or the Gulf. Given the long haul, we strongly recommend at least one full recovery day in Delhi or Mumbai before the onward domestic flight to Nagpur — trying to safari on zero sleep is the single biggest regret we hear about after the fact.

Guests from the Americas tend to ask us the most detailed safety and logistics questions upfront — vehicle standards, driver vetting, medical response plans, communication while in the field — and we'd rather over-answer than under-answer. Every naturalist carries a satellite communicator in zones with unreliable signal, our vehicles are inspected before season, and we can share our emergency-response protocol on request. Culturally, India runs on a more flexible relationship with fixed schedules than North America does; we build buffer time into transfers specifically to absorb that, so a delayed connecting flight or a slow forest-department queue won't cost you a safari slot.
Money & payments
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex less universally) are accepted at hotels and lodges in cities and larger reserves; carry INR cash for smaller lodges, local markets and tips. We quote in USD and INR. A note on tipping: unlike much of the Americas, tipping isn't automatically added to bills — guides and drivers appreciate ₹300–500/day, at your discretion.

What's your emergency response if something goes wrong on safari?
Every vehicle carries a first-aid kit and a satellite communicator where mobile signal is unreliable; naturalists are trained in basic field first aid, and we maintain relationships with the nearest hospitals to every reserve we operate in.
Is it safe to drink the water?
Stick to bottled or filtered water, which we provide throughout — this is standard travel advice for India generally, not a safari-specific concern.
How much buffer time should I build around domestic flight connections?
We recommend at least 3 hours between an international arrival and a domestic connection to Nagpur, and we schedule our own transfers with padding for exactly this reason.
Do I need travel insurance that specifically covers safari activity?
We recommend it, though safari itself is low-risk — you're in a vehicle with a trained naturalist at all times. Standard international travel medical insurance is generally sufficient; check that it covers rural/remote medical evacuation if you want extra peace of mind.
Is jet lag a real concern before the first safari day?
Yes, and it's the most common regret we hear about — we build a recovery night into every itinerary before the first dawn drive, since a 5 a.m. wake-up on zero sleep undercuts the whole trip.
