DESTINATION

Satpura National Park

Narmadapuram (Hoshangabad), Madhya Pradesh

India's only tiger reserve where guided walking and canoe safaris are officially permitted alongside the standard gypsy drive — rugged Satpura hill forest, the Denwa backwaters, and a noticeably different pace from our other reserves. We built a dedicated Adventure & Trekking tour around exactly this.

Plan a safari here
Is a walking safari actually safe in tiger habitat?

Walking routes stay in the buffer zone, not the core, and every trek is led by a naturalist alongside an armed forest-department guard, following official Satpura protocols — see our Adventure & Trekking tour for the full format.

What's the canoe safari like?

A quiet paddle along the Denwa backwaters, usually in the morning — a good complement to a walking or jeep safari rather than a replacement for either.

Which zone should I book?

Madhai is the main gate and where the walking and canoe safaris are based; Churna and Bori add jeep-safari variety if you're staying longer.

How does Satpura compare to Pench or Kanha for sightings?

Tiger density is lower here — this reserve is worth visiting for the walking and canoe format and the terrain, not for the highest odds of a tiger sighting on a single drive.

How do I get here from Nagpur?

About 5 hours by road, or fly into Bhopal and drive roughly 3 hours — most guests combining Satpura with our other reserves do the road transfer directly.
